The Proyecto de Mariposa video offers insight into the intricate design and revision process undertaken by OWL’s Spanish 4/5 class. This process is vital when the class does an assignment where each student creates a unique butterfly, which all come together to form a school-wide mural. However, the mural you see at OWL is merely a rough draft of this project. The final butterflies are sent and contributed to a mural in Mexico, which consists of butterflies created by individuals across the globe.

This video also shows the art of revision and how it materially improves the overall project. From making sketches to collaborative peer feedback sessions, students can create a high-quality piece they feel proud of. The butterfly shows their comprehension of community, language proficiency, and cultural awareness through their expedition and artist statement, where they describe the task and show what they have learned.
