This year in sixth grade, students spent the year learning about and exploring the Mississippi River. They studied the river’s geological origins, Bdote’s sacred importance to the Dakota people, how the river caused a flour milling boom in Minneapolis, and more. In the spring, students chose a specific topic about the river to dive deep into, conducting research, organizing their notes into logical categories, and writing a script for a ‘mini documentary’.

This page holds the documentaries for the 2024 6th graders who chose to make documentaries related to animals. You’ll learn about invasive species in the river, threats to the ecosystems of the river, and more! We hope you enjoy and learn something about the river that is so important to our state.
